PARKFEST PHOTOS

Parkfest 2008 was an amazing experience, bringing the show back to campus was probably the greatest thing the Student Association has done this year. Despite the poor weather conditions, over 2000 UAlbany students came out to Collin Circle for an awesome festival. This years Parkfest was attended by more UAlbany students then ever before. Help Wanted: Student Association Jobs

The Student Association is now accepting applications for the 2008-2009 Executive board. Below you will find a listing of job description for various opportunities. Employees of the Student Association are given a hands on experience at running a $2 million organization and representing a 12,000+ constituency. 

Applications are available in the Student Association office and are due back no later than 5 PM on Wednesday April 30, interviews will be held the following week with the incoming President and Vice President If you have questions concerning the application process please e-mail SA@Albany.edu 

Programming Director- The programming director is responsible for planning and facilitating all Student Association events throughout the semesters. In prior years these events included Parkfest, summer orientation, comedy shows and other concerts. As the Programming Director you will work closely with the Office of Student Involvement and the SA Marketing Office. You are also required to remain on campus over the summer.

Programming Assistants- As the chief aid to the Programming Director you will be responsible for all duties assigned to you at the director’s discretion. These duties have included maintaining contact with prospective performers, speaking with University officials regarding the planning of events and assisting in the logistical aspects on the day of an event.

Marketing Director-The Marketing Director acts as the primary liaison between the SA and the student body. Working with every department in our office, as well as the University’s office of Media and Marketing you will be responsible for promotion of all events. This included securing volunteers for the day of the event and creating novel means of advertisement.

Marketing Assistants- As the chief aid to the Marketing Director you will be responsible for all duties assigned to you at the director’s discretion. Your primary purpose is to assist in the execution of marketing strategies you will develop in conjunction with the Director, as well as active promotion through means of the SA Street Team.

Multicultural Affairs Director- The primary focus of the MCA Director is to oversee and coordinate diverse cultural activities on campus. The director acts as an advocate for each multicultural group and works closely with the Office of Student Involvement

Athletics Director- Acting as a liaison between the University Athletic Department and the student body, the AD coordinates all intramural and club sports. The hiring of all referees and commissioners for each intramural sport is also a chief duty of the AD.

Gender and Sexuality Concerns Director- The duties of this director are to act as the voice of the LGBT community on campus. Holding programs throughout each semester and working on the co-sponsorship of events with various clubs and organizations in the campus community.

Albany Television Director- The ATV director is responsible for all aspects the SA’s involvement with the campus television station. Production of novel programming including the hiring of actors for both in front and behind the camera and the recording of all SA sponsored events are among the chief responsibilities of this position.

Elections Commissioner- As the facilitator of each and every Student Association election it is your responsibility to collect nomination forms, perform background checks on each candidate and advertise for each election.

Legislative Affairs Director- As the Legislative Affairs Director you are responsible for advocating on behalf of the 12,000+ undergraduate students at the University at Albany. You will have to work closely with the NYS Legislature to lobby for issues pertaining to higher education. You will work closely with the University Office of Government Relations. 

Chief of Staff- As the Chief of Staff it is your primary responsibility to act as a liaison between the University Administration and the Student Association. Secondly it is your responsibility to be in constant contact with the SA Directors and inform the President of day-to-day operation 

It is the duty of all Directors employed by the Student Association to:

·      Be in good academic standing at the University (GPA 2.5 or higher)
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the President, Vice President and all other directors
  • Complete a minimum of 10 office hours a week
  • Make monthly reports to the Senate on the happenings of your department
  • Attend all SA functions and events
  • Be available over the summer months to communicate with the President, Vice President and other  directors.
  • And at all times, be an Ambassador of the Students, University and Community

Student Association Elections-VOTE MONDAY AND TUESDAY!

The Student Association will hold its elections for President, Vice President, Senator At-Large, University Council, and SUNY Student Assembly this Monday (4/14) and Tuesday (4/15). Voting will begin on MyUAlbany at midnight tonight, and will end at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. 

In addition to the elected positions, be sure to vote for the third artist you'd like to see perform at Parkfest on May 3rd and vote on an amendment to the Student Association Constitution regarding a change in election procedures.

To vote log on to MyUAlbany (www.albany.edu/myualbany) and click on "Student Elections." Please be advised that MyUAlbany is not available between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. each day. Should you have any technical difficulties with voting please e-mail SA@Albany.edu so that we may address any problems.

UAlbany Student Association Presents Battle of the Bands 2008


This is a VIRTUAL Battle of the Bands competition. The winning band of this competition will go on to open at the Biggest concert in Albany, PARKFEST!!! That's right, the winning band goes on to perform in front of hundreds on the big stage at Parkfest. 

The winning band also goes on to appear in SPIN MAGAZINE!! That's right YOU and YOUR BAND can be published in one of the HOTTEST MAGAZINES in the nation.

3 Bands will be chosen by 3/27 to compete in an online voting contest. PLEASE SUBMIT BAND INFO ASAP!!!!!! Myspaces and pics are preferred!!!!!

Student Association Elections

Several positions are currently open for all undergraduate students, including next year's President, Vice President, Senate at-large, University Council, and Student Assembly Representative. The forms for self-nomination are due by March 31 for all candidates to appear on the ballot. Elections are tentatively scheduled for April 14th and 15th on MyUAlbany's online voting system. Intramural Sports Program

The Student Association is proud to announce the Spring 2008 Intramural Sports Program. This semester we will offerer basketball, dodgeball, badminton, soccer, softball, flag football, volleyball, and tennis.
